Community Living Cambridge has launched a new program with the goal of making our City the most diverse and inclusive in Canada. The program will build a bridge between those with intellectual disabilities and local businesses, creating valuable new relationships on both sides. Everyone has a right to work in an environment based on dignity and respect, where their talents and skills are valued, and we know Cambridge businesses will champion this thinking with us by becoming supporting members of the program.
The Employer Champion program will advance the cause of adults with developmental disabilities within the Cambridge business community and demonstrate how being an inclusive company contributes directly to the bottom line of business. CLC will work with Employer Champions to spark an important conversation across the city on the need to build more diverse workplaces, and how we can all play a role in moving things forward. This program will generate conversations and – most importantly – create greater opportunities for people to have the role they decide is right for them in their community.
Presenting the first annual Cambridge Business Inclusion Award
On May 8th we awarded our first Cambridge Business Inclusion Award to a local business who has demonstrated a commitment to supporting individuals with a developmental disability. This award will become an annual event that celebrates businesses within Cambridge – businesses that not only hire people with intellectual disabilities, but businesses who also train their staff, create policies, and promote more inclusive workplaces. We congratulate McNeil Auto Supply, CLC’s first annual Cambridge Business Inclusion Award winner.
