I am Winston Darryl Francis, an immigrant with mixed British/ Indian heritage. I am an Anglo-Indian.
I have been in Canada for the last 25 years and am proud to call my adopted country- Canada -home.
Back in India, I held senior Leadership positions, which enabled me to travel to several SAARC countries for business development, as well as set up channels of distribution and lead large teams of 100+ remotely.
I have a Post Graduate degree in Marketing and Sales Management, as well as a Bachelor of Science Degree ( Mathematics & Statistics) from India, and in Canada, have been able to complete Certificate courses from the National Association of Sales Professionals ( Skills for sales success) and Customer Service Excellence (an Ontario Management Development Program) -both from Seneca College.
I have obtained several licenses in Insurance and recently got my International Certification from the Jay Shetty Certification school to be a Jay Shetty certified Life and Success coach in Jan 2025, and last August 2025, I was awarded a Certificate from the Ontario Education Services Corporation (OESC) Essential Governance 2025- Professional development program.
Besides English being my mother tongue, I am also multilingual in several Indian languages, which enables me to better connect with various linguistic communities.
My strengths are my Self-confidence, communication skills, and ability to influence.
In Canada, I have been in the Insurance industry for the last 19 years and have learned to assess, manage, and control risk by offering advice and solutions. I have been employed with RBC Insurance (17 years) and won the Highest award given to any employee enterprise-wide for new business sales and growing the retail distribution network, and recently with ALLSTATE Insurance for 2 years, and have handled branch operations, a large team of advisors, and a personal assistant (till Jan 2024).
I have been an elected Waterloo Catholic District School Board ( WCDSB) trustee since November 2023.
I assist in Governance, Policy compliance, strategy, budgeting, and audit for the 45 Elementary schools, 5 secondary schools, 5 Adult care centers, 3500+ full and part-time teachers, and 40,000 full and part-time students. I am also on several committees within the board -audit, planning, parent, and pastoral.
I bring my energy, passion, and enthusiasm to anything I do, and my favorite quote is ‘ I will make it happen’.
